IPOS is now accepting applications for its Action Request and Rapid Response services, marking a major step in its two-year ramp-up phase following the anticipated launch at the UN Ocean Conference (UNOC-3) in June 2025.
Up to 10 service requests will be selected, enabling States and groups of States to address urgent and persistent ocean sustainability and equity challenges while helping refine IPOS’ services and governance ahead of its full global launch in 2027. This ramp up phase is a unique opportunity for learning by doing—a collaborative effort to co-design and fine-tune the IPOS approach through hands-on engagement with participating States, stakeholders and knowledge-holders, with no financial obligation.
Applications are open to all UN Member States, with an emphasis on engaging a wide range of States to ensure IPOS delivers meaningful, context-responsive solutions to a wide variety of policy and knowledge systems.
Proposals will be evaluated by an expert panel for their alignment with international commitments, urgency, impact potential, and feasibility.
