IPOS is supporting Costa Rica in preparing for the national implementation of the BBNJ Agreement with timely, science-based insights to inform decision-making and anticipate practical challenges.
We’ve highlighted key takeaways from our final report that aim to support not only Costa Rica but other States navigating the transition from global agreement to national action. Focusing on early planning, coordination mechanisms, legal preparedness, and the use of pilot cases to test implementation pathways, these insights translate existing knowledge into actionable policy pathways to help close the gap between ocean commitments and active implementation.
