Selected requests
The IPOS has already started working to accompany States in their achievement of the international targets they are committed to. The Pilot Projects demonstrate the capacity of the IPOS to coordinate highly qualitative research, gathering policy-makers, scientists and representants of the civil society.
We have officially selected our first round of Action Request and Rapid Response projects!
Following evaluation by the members of our Acting Knowledge Committee (AKC), an Action Request from South Africa and a Rapid Response from Costa Rica were identified as our first set of submissions to support in our ramp-up phase.
The IPOS AKC attributed the highest scores to these submissions based on their sustainability impact, urgency, feasibility, availability of support, and potential for co-benefits.
In the coming days, we will share the full stories behind each of these projects and the challenges we aim to address together.
We look forward to supporting these States as we translate knowledge into context-specific policy options, guiding sustainable action forward to help meet our shared goals for Ocean impact.

The Global Deep Sea Consultation's results were published on March 31st, 2025.
The Seychelles Rapid Response early results were shared at Our Ocean conference in April and final results published in September 2025.
The Small-Scale Fisheries in Costa Rica Project was completed during the UNOC-3 in June 2025.
